Edith Arrived in Australia with her parents in 1982. She started her own business and feels very fortunate that she lives in Australia.

My name is Edith Boccari. I was born in September 1969, and we arrived in Australia on the 8 January 1982. I was born in a little town called Achtmaal, in the Netherlands, and, yeah, we have been in Australia since then. The first place we lived was a little place called Boonah, then we lived in Toowoomba, but I am living in Stanthorpe for over thirty years

We arrived in Australia by plane. My parents were self-employed farmers. We had a very small farm over there, and my dad did not see a future for us children over there, if we wanted to do the same kind of thing so he decided to try to do it in Australia and he was successful when we immigrated as a family to Australia in 1982.  I love living in Australia, and would never live in the Netherlands permanently, yet I would love to visit as often as I can.

Australia is a very big country, with a lot of opportunities. I have been very fortunate we had been able to start our own business here, although it is not easy. It’s been very rewarding and I don’t believe that I would be able to do the same kind of things in the Netherlands.
