This woman left Uganda with her nine months old son because of rebel unrest in 2008. At that time Joseph Kony was operating in the district she was living in. She got married in 2005. The Australian Government processed her husband as a refugee in this time. He came to Australia, and then this woman and her child followed him in 2008. She currently lives and works in Toowoomba.

My name is according to the season, so it was like I was born during war. Ehhh… between the war of the presidential war that happened I think about 1982. Yea… so I was named according to that.

I got married in 2005, but then my husband was processed to come here. So, aaa…but then we were left behind. So I had a child in 2007, so I was there by myself and he was here by himself. So we united in 2008. Yes, in January. I came when my son was nine months old.

I miss Uganda. I lived in a village, not really in the city, but it is far north. Though we have insecurity there, That’s where this Kony you know, this Kony rebel. He is a common man. That is where we lived and there was a lot of threatening, anyway… So Umm… We decided to move to the next district because where we lived he really kills. You know, people can’t sleep sometimes in the bush. We are in the bush in the night time day time we are in the city. Yea, umm… but there. I know, if not because of him it is a good place to live. I loved it.

Anyway, I am here by myself. My parents are still back home. I have two kids, I got one from overseas and then one was born here in 2009. Yea, five years and three years old.

Back in Uganda I was working with refugee camp so, since I came anyway I have not gotten what I wanted here. That is why I am doing here traineeship and I still need to go for more studies and at least do something better for myself.
